Many people learned about him by the frequent mentions on “The Big Bang Theory.” There were even plot lines for the show created around him. (Sheldon’s “Words with Friends”, Leonard’s ship excursion). So it was only fitting that the show led the way in honoring their friend. The CBS show shared a group photo with Hawking after he appeared on the show.
Kaley Cuoco shared "It was truly such an honor getting to work with the incredible Stephen Hawking. He made us laugh and we made him laugh. His life and career workings have been many a subject matter on @thebigbangtheory and we are all better for it."

But Stephen Hawking touched farther into entertainment than most of us knew as evidenced by the tributes that poured in. Eddie Redmayne, who won an Oscar playing a young Hawking in “The Theory of Everything,” expressed his condolences. "We have lost a truly beautiful mind, an astonishing scientist and the funniest man I have ever had the pleasure to meet. My love and thoughts are with his extraordinary family."
