GOOD NEWS: Crossing Guard Passes Free Coats To Students In Need

Minnie Galloway has been a crossing guard at Trask Middle School in Wilmington, North Carolina for the last 19 years and she always greets the kids with a smile and a wave, but her kindness doesn’t stop there. Ms. Minnie, as the kids call her, has been giving away coats for free to students who might not have one to keep them warm this winter.

Kayla Thomas teaches at a nearby high school and she spotted Ms. Minnie’s generous act and posted about it on Facebook, where it’s gone viral. Thomas says she was so touched by Minnie’s kind heart that “it took every ounce of restraint in my body not to put the car in park and get out and hug this woman, to thank her for using her free time to keep our students safe and for giving coats to people who may not have them.”

Now Ms. Minnie is getting some well-deserved recognition within the community for her generosity and for being a positive influence in the students’ lives. Thanks for making the world a better place, Ms. Minnie.
